7 Sutras of Spiritual Nutrition

Fit65 endorses deep breathing, meditation, and mindfulness (being in the present moment) in our thoughts, movements, and actions.  While enlightenment eludes us, we believe the investigation and pursuit of these behaviors is rewarding and, when doing so, we feel better and think and perceive more clearly.  We think you will, too.

In addition, vast research and a growing number of studies indicate a wide variety of medical benefits are derived through relaxation techniques and meditation.  These techniques are no longer fringe pursuits and they have established a solid foothold in hospitals and clinics throughout mainstream western medicine.  You’ll find us touching on these themes going forward.

Some years back we attended a fitness trade conference the theme of which was Mind – Body – Spirit.  One of the presenters was renowned personal trainer, and yoga and meditation teacher Michelle Hebert, an early disciple of the late, great Walt Baptiste, a pioneer in exploring the mind/body connection.

So we present Michelle Hebert’s 7 Sutras of Spiritual Nutrition, Fit65’s first post related to mind, body, spirit behavior.  Its a little out-of-the-ordinary with its focus on food:

  • You are a unique and constantly changing individual;  only you can make proper choices.  Employ education, experimentation, and intuition.
  • Thoughts and attitudes while preparing and eating food have a profound affect on the body and spirit (don’t eat while angry).
  • The kitchen is an altar of health that supports body, mind, and spirit.
  • People resonate with the foods and plants indigenous to the region of their birth.
  • Whole foods, raw foods, and live foods provide the richest levels of prana.
  • Purification regimens give the digestive system a rest and allow for deep healing on all levels.
  • 80/20 rule: 80% good for you, 20% fun.

Bon Appetite!
